dating for registration

Forums

I have an atlas with all the relevant US paper work but when i tried to register it the forms were sent back with the message that there was no date of manufacture on the title, can i get a certification of date without having to rub all the paint off the frame ? All the numbers are on the US titles that i have for this bike.It is not standard apart from frame, forks, wheels, engine & gearbox, it now sports alloy tanks & mudguards.

You need to send a letter or email to Dave Cattonfor adating letter , and you will also have to send him pictures of the engine and frame numbers as well as the complete bike. The DVLA will want a dating letter from the club that you belong to. In this case the NOC, so once you have that dating letter then they will consider and let you have a registration number. You will also need it to be MOTed, and have it insured. You also need to send proof of identity and proof of residence. and you will also have to fill in the application form V75/5 I think it is. I have done this with all of my bikes and I have got registration numbers. This was when they had local offices that you could go into and actually talk to some one. I have also done it via the post and if all the paper work is correct for the DVLA then you get a registration number allocated to you in under two weeks.

The documents that came with the bikes I imported from Norton America had dates on them but it so much easier to get a dating letter for the bike from the relevant clubs dating officer. The DVLA also look up the clubs that they accept a dating letter from as they did this to me when I sat there with all my documents to check if the dating letter that I submitted came from a DVLA approved club.
