Carby question

Forums

Hi all Firstly hope all of you are ok with the floods over there, It's stinking hot over here in Queensland 35 deg C, we could use some of that rain your'e getting.

Has anybody had any experience or thoughts on trying dellorto pumpers on a 750 combat? Any feed back welcomed, Quite happy with my amals but just a thought for my next project(When I can afford it)

Thanks in advance

Gday Mark, nothing wrong with Amal's but glad you didn't mention the M word. I don't know anyone who has tried the Italian carb on aCommandobut you never know, and they may be OK. If you wanted a change, have you thought of a single SU? I understandthey give better fuel consumption than my single Mk 1 Amal, giving me68 mpg. With an Interstate tank, this would be ideal for heading West into the outback!!!!!!!!!!!

PS: Last time I was down under you could by BP Ultimate with no Ethanol in it. Do you know if that is still the case?

Enjoy the Sun. It will soon be our turn.

Hi Neil

Yes we can still buy unleaded without ethanol, although we do also have E10

usually available 91 octaine (contains 10% ethanol) 95 and 98 octaine with out.

Can get between fuel stops on the coast with the roadster tank, doubt I would get too far going west though.

I am keeping my 72 combat as original as possible But will be looking at restoring another if I can find one within my price range. That one will become my daily ride so some modifications and experimenting will be tried. I really liked the response I got from the Dellorto's on my Ducati 500 pantah so smooth and grunty. Great to ride but nothing comes close to a set up commando for me.

Hi Mark,

Your best bet would be the accessnorton.com forum with 60% of Commandos going to the USA there is a lot more info over there when it comes to conversions of any type. There are a couple of guys over there with flatslide Kehin carbs but they need to "relieve" the cross member of the frame to get them in. Pumper carbs should be good though.wink
