AMC main shaft bearings

Afternoon

I am looking for the correct codes for the main shaft bearing for my '73 850cc gearbox. I have tracked down the layshaft bearing already. Also looking at the workshop manual there look to be 2 main shaft bearings and 1 layshaft bearing. Am I seeing this right? Regards Sean

If you look on Andover Nortons web site they have good diagrams identifing parts, with numbers and price. You are correct there are two ball race Mainshaft bearings and one layshaft which should be a roller bearing, it use to be a ball race the one that fails. The other end of the layshaft runs in a bush in the kick start.

Ps If you look up Old Brits Norton, Technical articals they do detailed gearbox rebuild and examination articals. The rebuild artical has information for shimming the kickstart to control layshaft end play when the Roller bearing is fitted instead of the ball race
