1950 Big 4 front brake cable guide

Forums

Hello,

As you can see from the photo I am missing a cable guide. Despite searching I cannot find a picture of what the cable guide looks like. Any images appreciated so I can fashion a replica. Even better if you have a spare I'd be happy to buy it - I don't see one in the NOC shop, I would think any 1940's-50's Norton single, ES2, 16H etc might have the same part?

Thank you

Dave

On my 1955 ES2 the guide is part of the mudguard. Looking at your picture, I think that thing welded to the mudguard towards the fork leg is the remains of the cable guide.

Thanks Ian, there is a hole that would take a nut and bolt f I can get a shape to replicate. Looks like it was bolted not welded to be honest but who knows? I do see what you mean though. Might have changed in 54 with transition to AMC?

Hi David,

The front mudguard for the 19" wheel is the same from 47 to 54 and the only difference with the 55 is the hole positions for the front number plate and they felt the need to give it a new part number just for that tiny difference!

Jim

PS

Would someone please put the messages back to the right order of oldest first? It is beyond confusing this way round.

Thanks Jim for the clarification.

My 1951 ES2 is identical to Ian's picture. I'd have thought all the models are much the same.

Fantastic, thanks Ian, that's exactly what I need

A picture is worth etc...

This is mine. As you can see, it's just a bit of bent metal spot welded to mudguard.

A short time later part of a tax disc holder is reused in to something useful :) Thanks Gents.
