My ES2 came with a new old stock Amal 626 R300 carb, the box looks like it's from the 70/80s it says ES2 with spacer? Main 180, pilot bush, 31/2 slide and 26mm bore. Looking at the head, a 28mm would be a better fit, was the 26mm used for trials for any particular reason, or was it a common swap?

Looking up in my Amal book Dan, Mod 18, ES2 & 500T from 1946-54 lists a 276AU/1BE 1 1/16", i.e. 26mm, with 160 main, #4 slide,106 needle jet and needle position 3. ES2 & 19R from 1955-63 lists 376/17, 1 1/16", 270 main, #4 slide, 30 pilot jet, 106 needle jet & needle position 3. No mention of any larger carbs fitted. Maybe yours has been 'tuned'! I seem to remember a similar thread on this recently, so a search may throw something up.
