Hi please can you help with the dimensions of the Manx Norton 2LS front brake anchor peg? Especially the thread size/form. It will give me a little job to do in between the many chores around the house that my wife has lined up for me. Stay safe, thanks Andy

Just checked, I think that…
Just checked, I think that part number is for the rear, just the thread form/size would be all I need for the front as I am going to have to make my own. I am trying to work with what I have,a full width hub and Manx tls brake plate. It sits a little more inboard than standard and I will have to make the anchor pin a bit longer to compensate.

Manx front brake anchor peg thread
I can confirm for anyone who may be interested that the thread is 1/2" UNF 20tpi

1/2 UNF and 1/2 CEI both…
1/2 UNF and 1/2 CEI both have 20 tpi and a 60 degree thread angle so you can call it what you like.

Sorry, pressed the wrong…
Sorry, pressed the wrong buttons. If the thread is 5/8 then 18tpi is UNF.

If its pre Commando and into…
If its pre Commando and into alloy? it was normal Norton practise to use Whitworth. And in steel cycle.

If it is to be longer than…
If it is to be longer than usual, it will be more highly stressed than usual. I don't know what strength they were, but you need to use something good.
Is the 18tp what you have measured? In my tables 5/8 whit has only 11tpi, and a thread as coarse as that would remove a lot of the bolt bending strength. So maybe UNF after all!
If you have a good engineering hardware shop, you might be able to buy a nice modern grade 10.9 bolt to fit.

Anchor peg
Yes you are right and having mocked it all up this morning I can see that the peg would have to be too long to make it work. Back to the drawing board, thanks

Manx front brake anchor peg thread
It is 1/2" 20tpi 60 degree which is the same for both UNF and Cycle. I have a part machined one which I obtained from Andy Molnar, in standard length, from which I thought that I might make a longer copy. Unfortunately this looks like a non starter as the new peg would need to be too long.

Boty RGM and A/N offer a Torque Stop Pin - p/n 060325. It may be what you are looking for. The thread end appears to be 5/8" dia with 18tpi. Possibly UNF?
