Hi. I was cleaning up a few more parts of my basket case 1960 Dommie 99 when I discovered that the left hand fork slider has a hairline crack across the underside of the spindle hole (first photo below). It’s the ‘plain’ hole not the one with the pinch bolt. Is it OK and possible to have the leg welded. I’m concerned about safety and ensuring that the spindle hole remains true. Alternatively, would I be better off trying to find a better leg?
Thanks
Tony

The early Commando ones are…
The early Commando ones are stronger so more likely to be uncracked but they use UNF threads. so if you're not too worried about the tyre kicking police you could use one of those. You will need to shave 3/16 th inch from the bottom boss as you will have narrow forks on your Dommie. There are plenty of threads about this on this forum. good luck, Howard
