I am in the process of fitting a new set of JP pistons to my Norton Electra, before I fit them I tried the segmental oil control rings on the piston as this is the first time I have fitted a 4 segment ring.Following the instructions I placed the expanded ring in the groove, this is the same width as the groove and the gap between the expander ends is approx 15mm.When I installed the steel segment this fitted on top of the expander ring? I then fitted the spreader ring followed by the remaining segment ring again this fitted on top of the expander ring, because of this there seems little or no compression or movement of the segment rings, and no opportunity to gap them as this is in excess of 0.0050,although I have not yet offered the piston to the barrel. Can you please advise if this is correct and has anyone else experienced this ,before I proceed and try to fitMany thanksTrevor Veale
