I've stripped the clutch on my inter and although I was planning on geting the end plated it looks quite corroded in places so wont come up very well. The sprocket and clutch basket are also quite worn and very rusty. I have cleaned it up the best I can but it has a series of cork inserts in the back that look to be in good nick so I dont want to get to near these with the wire brush. How are they fixed to the clutch?
Are these two parts available as replacements? I havent seen them anywhere.
Finally the cover that holds in the rubbers broke into several peices as I took it off so I need a new one of these as well.
I have atached a picture of the two main bits but they look better in the picture!
Thanks
Andy

Forgot to say my comments apply to post 59 AMC clutch. Earlier ones -56 on -had the same friction plate (with inserts)/plain plate arrangement as yours but with an alloy pressure plate with an adjuster screw in the middle. There were also alterations made round about 1956 to the size of the splines on the drum.
Regards.

Hi.
The cork inserts are simply a push fit. The Manx type clutch basket isn't available but 16H ones come up regularly on Ebay and could be machined using your original as a pattern. The cover that broke is the same on all singles and Dommi's unless it is a later Manx type with six screws. The end plate is also common to pre-AMC gearbox Nortons. Probably your best bet is to look out for a complete pre-AMCroad-going clutch in good nick. The AMC clutch, incidentally,is different in that the basket and the plates with the outer tangs were plain, the back plate and plates with the inner tangs had the friction material 'glued' on, plus, they had an alloy presure plate with an adjuster screw in the middle.
Regards.
