'48 ES2 gas tank - is this normal?

Forums

Hey,

I took my tank off to scrape the grim off of it. I attached a picture of the tank. There is a verticle denton theright front caused by the forksslamming into it at some point.

What I'm not sure aboutis the small curve in the right front of the saddle. I circled it in the picture.

1. Is this normal?

2. Is this an original tank?

Anybody have any thoughts?

Hi Bryon

The 'curve' is quite normal; it is there to allow the cable from the headlamp/switches to pass safely to the rest of the machine.

Ahhh,

I have no headlight (or speedo)so the need for things such as cables is not great at the moment :)

Thanks for the info!!!

Evening all,

My tank has "1221" and "45" stamped on the underside:

1. Does this represent the year it was made?

2. Would my poor baskercase have shipped with a tank that was a few years older or was it replaced at some point?

3. Newcastle United is going to finish at the top this time around! :
