Hi all, I'm trying to take out the central damping rod from my 1939 16H. I presume the girder fork spindle goes through the holding nut assembly at the bottom of the rod, I undid the nuts both ends of the spindle and by means of the square on the end tried to take out the spindle, but it only came out so far and is very tight, does it come all the way out? and do you have to take this spindle out to release the damper rod? Help please, cheers Tony.

Hi Antony,
You will need to first ensure that the brown bakelite knob and rod move freely and screw outas far as possible and then undo the top clamp nut where the rod passes through. The rod and bakelite knob can then be removed and separates.
