Dominator front brake cable, with switch

Forums

Hi all, does anyone know if there is a "Off the shelf" brake cable, with switch, available for the Dominator?    Probably quite a simple d.i.y job, but, why bother if there is one already on the market.

You could fit a mercury switch in the back brake supply ,that would bring the brake light on when using either brake or engine braking.

Hi,

I know that you're looking for an 'off-the-shelf' option, but if you can't find one, I can recommend having one made by JJ Cables in Warwick (01926 651470). I had them make a front brake cable with a switch for my Triumph T120 and it's a really good job. The only down-side is that they like you to send your current cable (or an old one if you have one laying around) so that they can match the length exactly when inserting the switch. Interestingly, the switch on the cable that they made operates a lot more smoothly and positively than the one in an 'off-the-shelf' cable that I bought a couple of years ago.

Hope that helps.

Tony

The early Commando with a Twin LS Front Brake used a brake cable with a built in switch.

The P/N is 06 2491.

I fitted one of these to my Atlas when it had a Commando TLS. The wiring was not complicated but did involve lengthy runs of electrical cable from the switch back to the rear end of my bike. I do not think a standard SLS Front Brake Plate will accept the Commando Brake cable as the adjuster at the hub end has a different thread.
