1960 ES2 alternator stator orientation

Forums

I have recently acquired a 1960 ES2 and among other things removed the primary cover to check the number to teeth on the engine sprocket.

After putting all back together i noticed in the manual that the stator should be mounted with the cable innermost, mine was and still is of course mounted the other way.

I am rather simple on things electrical, but is there any significance in the orientation other than keeping the cable out of harms way?

The patented Norton oil leak has defeated me this time so i will be going back in there and will swap things around, but just interested to know.
