Currently restoring a 53 ES2. All of the tinware (including the mudguards) look to be original and in reasonable condition considering, but one or two pieces would need some metal repair before repaint. For instance the sharp edge at the back of the seat base has worn right through the crown of the rear mudguard. Surrounding metal is sound but would still need a new section cut in to make a proper and lasting repair.
Given the originality and scarcity of replacement parts, my preference is to repair rather than replace but I want a quality job done, not just a bit of metal bashing.
Does anyone have any recommendations for this type of metal repair and paint restoration in Scotland (preferably Central Belt but Tayside or Borders feasible too).
