I'm with John. Unless it pushes the bearings significantly out of line shouldn't be a problem. If it pushes through them easily enough I'd say would be OK.

I'm going to take it to an engineering firm [Lancaster engines] tomorrow, just to see if they can get it somewhere near true.
One video on youtube shows heat applied to inside of bend, with no pressure can often 'tweek ' a slight bend
If not, I might get one from noc

Is your bike frame Rigid, Plunger or Swinging arm ?. Unequal shocks on a plunger can give a bending moment.

Plungers don't have shocks...... They do of course have springs.
If I was going to bend it (which I wouldn't) I'd do it cold. Have a look at Phil Smith's Tuning for Speed where he describes how to correct bends in con rods.

a bit of an update. after…
a bit of an update. after watching several you tube videos I had a go at heating and cooling the outside of the bend.....after three attempts managed to get the 'bend' down to 10 thou, which I think is a bit of a result. anyway bike is back together and given decent weather will give it a quick blast tomorrow.

A) 20 thou over the length seems next to nothing, I wouldn't worry too much, I would think that amount of run out on a wheel spindle wouldn't effect anything, as long as the spindle fits in the hub.
B) It would be possible to straighten but may be quite difficult. (Do you know where the 'bend' is?)
C) No Idea............could have been like that for years!
