While my head is off and stuck in UK Customs purgatory I thought that I would time my ignition as it is a very opportune time to do it.
So, looking in the instruction manual I see where it states that after setting the points to .015" fully open I should then set the timing at 38 degrees BTDC. Since it is hard to install a degree wheel I see that the timing can also be set at 11/32" BTDC WHEN FULLY ADVANCED.
The question is, how do I hold the points auto advance plate fully open while I do this?
I also see that the book says that the timing should be 8 degrees BTDC when fully retarded. Is this a proper way to set the timing? Can anyone say what 8 degrees translates to in inches?
Thanks
Mike
