Can anyone confirm the material that Norton used for covering saddles in the 1920s and early 1930s? I am assuming it was some form of leatherette. When did the hard rubber seats come in?

The leathercloth that appeared on the sprung saddles was, as far as I'm aware, I.C.I. 'Rexine' and it's now unobtainable.
I believe that a thin version is still used by bookbinders.
The need to use modern vinyls for saddles (some look better than others) is one of the things that most often stops a restoration looking 'period'.
