Avon Roadrider tyres: latest on availability

I've recently been in touch with a very helpful technical guy at Goodyear Tyres, who now own the Avon brand, along with Sumitomo.
My query was about Dunlop TT100 tyres, which I changed to because I couldn't find a replacement Avon Roadrider. But whilst I had him on the phone I thought I'd ask about availability of Avon tyres, and after checking with his sales colleagues this is what he came up with:

The Avon Roadrider should have been coming back into production in late 2025 but this has now been put back to April 2026. From a follow-up email:

"This date is only for the tyres you asked about: 3.25-19 54V TL ROADRIDER MK II F/R , 90/90-19 52V TL ROADRIDER MK II F , and 100/90-19 57V TL ROADRIDER MK II F/R . Again like I said things can happen eg damaged mould or other unexpected issues so the April date is not cast in stone."

Apologies to those of you who use 18" tyres, I didn't ask about those, but anyone interested can always contact Goodyear themselves:

"If other people in your forum have further questions on availability the Goodyear web page has a list of contact addresses. https://www.goodyear.eu/en_gb/consumer/contact-us.html?
Probably the 2 best emails are sales.uk@goodyear.com and also marketing.uk@goodyear.com    For technical you will see us on there too tyretech.uk@goodyear.com"

In case anyone's interested, he gave me some useful information about tyre pressures for the Dunlop Roadmaster TT100 K81 tyres I now have on my Commando: Front 3.60-19: 1.8-2.0 bar/26-29 psi; Rear 4.10-19: 2.2-2.5 bar/32-36 psi.
When Avon were still at Melksham their technical guy gave me similar figures for the Roadrider. Since then I've always used 28F/32R, going up a couple of pounds for pillion and luggage. These are higher pressures than were recommended for tyres of the '60s and '70s, I'm told because of the lighter, more advanced materials now used.

Some good news, this is the same as we received from one of our distributors this morning. Mid 2026ish seems to be what they are aiming for.

Damaged mould is interesting, I would have thought it would be new or modified to remove the country of construction on the tyre.

That sounds very promising about making new Roadrider 19" tyres.
I recently replaced my rear Roadrider tyre before attending the Norton International and National rallies. I reckon mid 2026 will be when I need new front and rear tyres for my Commando. Hopefully they will also be making Avon Spirit ST tyres that I use on my Tiger 800 XR. If they dont make any more of either type of Avon tyre it would appear to have been a pointless takeover in the first place.
