Suicide stand bolts

Forums

Hi all, sorry I've not been on here for ages. Rebuilding a 1939 ES2 plunger, and I seem to have no rear stand bolts. I strongly suspect that a previous owner had used something non-standard as there are none that fit in the pile of bits. Has anyone got pictures, and/or drawings of these? I'm guessing they are stepped items. To be clear, this is the wrong way round 'suicide' stand. Cheers, Tony.

Hi Tony,

The bolts for this stand look similar to ones used on the rigid frame and there is a picture on page 2 of the NOC shop stainless section. I dug out an original bolt from my 1939 ES2 plunger  frame parts and the dimensions are as follows.

11/16" hexagon bar, 1+3/4" overall length, shallow radius head, 1/4" head height measured at corner edges. Shoulder section 19/32" long and 1/2" diameter, threaded section is 3/4" long and 7/16" diameter. The thread is 20 tpi Cycle, although I think this is the same thread form as 7/16" UNF, as I have used these in the past for other parts.

If you need the retaining catch spring, Martin Bratby made me some several years ago and should still have some in stock.

Hi Richard, thank you so much for the brilliant reply, sorry I don't get notifications from this forum of replies. That's really excellent info, thanks again, cheers, Tony.
