I assume there is some sort of bracket which connects the saddle nose to frame? Where Might I buy one and what does it look like please?

Thanks David, i think my saddle is from a different bike, perhaps BSA M20? it has some green paint on it and it doesn't seem to fit my 36 civilian 16 h without making modifications

This pic shows it partly disassembled. The nose of the saddle has a pair of prongs which carry a 1/4" clevis pin. The pin goes through the hole you can see below the top tube, in the bracket.
The prongs are part of the saddle frame, so not likely to exist on a modern reproduction saddle frame. So something might need to be made up.
I believe the clevis hole was above the top tube before 1936. At that date they proudly lowered the saddle, which included the sideways prongs to pick up the saddle springs. WD bikes have vertical prongs for the springs. I don't know how the front of the WD saddle I supported.
