has anyone got a fix for a worn spigot?...mine is worn on its front area

Hello Adrian,

This picture is a worn pivot fix on my Electra done at least 15,000 mile ago. It still looks well.

I had the frame section separate. It was obvious that the pin was worn. The pin section outside the circlip groove stays the original diameter.

With file(s), I carefully restored the whole pin section to round, including the outer part. Checking with measuring caliphers for parallel and circular as I went. The new round pin was eccentric to the original because the wear was mainly on one side. As you observe. Measure the new reduced pin diameter.

Bush the brake pedal to suit. Between the ends of the circlip you can see the brass bush outline.

Drill the oil hole through the bush.

Restore the circlip groove with a Junior hacksaw so that the depth is recovered. Buy an external circlip suited to the new pin/groove dimensions.

Job done. A drop of oil once a year.

... but many may years ago when I was skint I've used bits of shim (well greased) to take up play. I wouldn't do it now (of course) but bodges like this kept me on the road when otherwise I'd have been immobilised.

Guilty as charged!

I am using shims to take up the slack in the brake pedal pivot. To be fair mine is not badly worn on the pivot arm,  just a bit slack side to side. Seems to work. If it gets any worse I'll copy Peter's bushing fix.
