Hi, I’m building up a bitsa from parts left over from my other projects using a 1953 ES2 frame, I have the right tank but am looking for a seat, ideally a flat one rather than the later one that is similar to a BSA seat. Does anyone have a seat/base they can photograph/measure for me or point me in the right direction for a similar one that could be modified? I’m not worried about it being concours, but I do want it to fit nicely. I have spoken to leightons and without a big order they cannot help at the moment.
Cheers
Dan

seat base
Hi Dan, I have a friend who had some seat bases made up some years ago. He has two left in stock. You are welcome to one BUT you will need to pay the freight from Australia. The mountings changed in this period, I have a friend who purchased one of these bases for his swing arm Model 7. he had to alter the front mount on the base to make it fit. Even if you have to alter the mounts the price is right. Maybe your supplier hasn't started work on your order !

Hi Andrew, thank you for…
Hi Andrew, thank you for your offer, I’ll ring Leightons in the morning but expect shipping and tax from Aus will make it as expensive,
Thanks again

Hi Dan, yes you are probably…
Hi Dan, yes you are probably right about the freight. If you were lucky enough to have a relative returning to the UK you would be on a winner.
We in the colonies suffer the freight costs. Sometimes faulty or sub standard parts have to be binned as the return freight is too high.
Keep going with your project, the first ride will make it all worthwhile.

Dan. When I bought mine in 1962 it did not have a saddle but I fitted a '56 Thunderbird one and it fitted well and was comfortable. Good luck finding one of these though. Rgds Bill
