es2 1953 carb setting and advice

Forums

My ES2 now starts and runs thanks to a bit of advice from the group - new carb fitted.

bike starts within 3 kicks, runs nice on tick over. However when i accelerate up to say 75% throttle then it appears to starve. If i open the choke a little the engine picks up and all is well but that is obviously not a fix . it backfires a bit.

do i raise the main needle a notch ?

any other tips ?

... "open the choke" I take it you mean lower the air slide?

Raisng the needle would be my first choice, next would be looking at the main jet although in theory that only governs wide open throttle. I tend to go with a too-large main jet until I get everything else right but have to confess I'm rarely on full chat these days.

Do you have a 276 or Monobloc fitted?
