Hi,
I'm missing my damper and the frame piece that it connects to. Does anyone know where I could source those parts? The knobs seem to be readily available but I haven't found the other parts anywhere.
Or If someone knows the measurements for those parts I can make them myself. At the moment I have nothing really to go by if I would make them.
It might help to say where…

Girder or telescopic.
Hi Lasse,
What type of forks do you have on your 16H ? Dan's photo shows the telescopic forks damper. The girder forks damper is a similar set-up but the parts are quite different and the only part which is the same is the damper knob.

Hi,
Haven't cheked Russell or Norvil but been all over ebay. It is the girder type forks. The axle and nuts are easy to figure out and make. The plates are harder without anything to go by.

Girder fork damper
Lasse,
I've attached a photo of the 3 metal parts you need. 2 friction discs are also needed.

Girder fork damper parts.
Hi Lasse/Ian,
Don't forget there is a 4th piece that fits on the first one in the picture. This is the one that has the angle and bolts to the front petrol tank lug, and this will be the easiest to make yourself.

Hi,
Norvil had almost all the parts. The only ones that I need to make are the bottom stud nut that has the cross hole in it, which should be easy to make with a lathe and the one metal piece that Ian Richtsteig kindly posted the picture of. That should also be quite easy to make.
Thank you for suggestions and help with this matter. And to other people who might be looking for these parts, Norvil has almost all of them.

Tele forks damper question
I'm attempting to fit a steering damper to my ES2 (pre featherbed frame), and I have all the parts shown in the 1st photo, but one of them puzzles me, in the photo the circular part with the long arm at an angle, where does this attach to please?
Grateful for any leads

Damper fitting
Hi Brian
The elongated hole at the bottom of the bracket should align with a 1/4" hole in the front frame downtube.
The large hole fits underneath the headstem with appropriate friction discs.

Hi Ian Many thanks for the…
Hi Ian
Many thanks for the reply regarding the damper fitting I enquired about, even though I have a pre-featherbed single downtube frame I can't see a 1/4" hole for the bracket attachment. If you had a photo you could provide of the downtube area so I could compare that would be ideal.
Unless the 57 frame I have is different from earlier ES2's, I do know the 57-58 models were called "Smooth Look" in the brochures and were the last design before the featherbed frames started in 59, perhaps I will have to get the thinking cap on!

Bracket mounts
Hi Brian,
Here's a couple of shots from the 1956 sales catalogue and parts book showing the set-up.
I'll attach a second set of photos from my actual frames separately.

Frame photos
Hi Brian,
Here's the actual frame photos. Both are single downtube swinging arm frames, 1953 Model 7 and a 1956 Model 19S.

It might help to say where you have tried? My first suggestion would be Russell motors or Norvill , failing that eBay !
Mind you if you have knob the rest should be easy to make if it’s the same as the pre featherbed damper
i think I have one off the bike if it helps?
