Spares from India, clutch plates

Forums

I’m building a WD 16h and am thinking of buying clutch plates from India, from the pictures they seem ok, although the steel has a grey look which to me indicates it may not be of the best quality, has anyone tried these plates out? and in general what sort of quality are spares from India? Thanks Ash

i have used clutch plates made in India on my Atlas and found them a tad thicker, but it worked fine for nearly 20000 kms. This was about 8 years ago.Recently bought plates for my triumph and it was fine. The steel plates are not so good, try using the old ones

If they are silly cheap then if no good you have learnt a cheap lesson. I bought some brake shoes from a source that supplies Indian made stuff and the friction was negligable. Replaced with uk made and the bike now stops. I bought Indian brake and clutch levers , Hopeless . The Quality is so variable they have to be cheap enough to throw away if not happy. They have the skills to make anything but not the management or the correct materials.
