Inter Cambox/Rocker Seals?

Forums

I have finally arrived at the point where I do final assembly of my cambox and need to get an idea of how far the rocker wiper "seals" should protrude to contact the rocker.   Other than knowing that the rockers should be stiff and difficult to move, I have no particular guidance.  cambox

Last inter one I built was so stiff it was like it was seized.  Movement only possible with the use of 400mm torque wrench.  I was lucky in as much as it had been modified to have adjusters to top set also.  The canvas insert wipers were used which were rock hard but after a few journeys they proved quite good at the job.

I would suggest slipping adjuster gib plates in behind the top rubbers to keep the top pressure on.

Strange how they searched and searched for power from the engine yet the load sapping seal system on the end of a suspect bevel drive was not addressed.

What’s the story here Mike? re-machined surfaces or a new casting?

..from Ian Bennett. Everything upstairs was completely trashed so I bit the bullet and replaced it all, My rockers had cracks when I maged them so I replaced them with Ian's roller rockers; very nice but I had to do a lot of machining inside before they would fit. Not difficult but took awhile. And thanks for the tip on the top plates. Makes good sense.

Cheers back,

Mike
