How much is the difference Kevin ?  Are you quite certain that the small keyway is engaged properly in the female on the mag ?  The '64 points mountings are usually steel and the key can get distorted so it doesn't engage correctly in the slot.  Also make sure that the screws securing the outer part of the mag to the main body are tight.  I have had problems in the past and it was necessary to use a fine stone on the cam ring to get them the same.  Good luck, Howard

...if you know what you are doing.   I have just had a ring trued up by Mag restoration company in Oakham who did a superb job.

Pop the ring out and use a dial indicator to check its 180 ...  You will be surprised...

This has been an on going situation with the Lucas K2F magneto's since the 1960's when I started to ride bikes. Getting the same points gap on both cam ramps did prove to be very hard to do. There was many who said that grinding the cam ramps to get the same gaps would help. This was why an electronic ignition set up proved so popular, for magneto bikes. There are many electronic magnetos out there, and BTH make a copy of the Lucas K2F, for twins.

I notice that one of my Auto Advance mags has a feeler packing strip between the cam ring and housing at one point, perhaps that's why both gaps are the same!.
