Rocker shaft with stripped threads

Forums

Hello,         Has anyone any suggestions on a way to remove a rocker shaft with stripped threads?  My first thoughts were to drill out & tap next size up, but as I feared, the drill won't even look at the hardened shaft.    Is there any super adhesives available?   Thanks.

Could you get one that would fit inside and use that to pull the remains out? After heating the head of course.

An expanding bolt as used in brick walls, inserted and tightened up, will give you something to pull on, heating the head should make it easier to pull.

I have some 6mm ceiling anchors that go into a 6 mm hole.,A twist and pull to activate the shield and they can be pulled on with a claw hammer.  You are welcome to one.

Hello,      Thank you Ian, John & Robert for your response to my query about the above, l looked into the idea of Rawlbolts, but even the smallest wasn't small enough, the good news is the shafts out! I found an old one in a box and tried to put a 8mm tap (plug) down it, and the result was that I could get 5 full turns on a bolt. Did same with shaft in head, & Using a long 8mm bolt & the body of the proper puller, & heat of course, the shaft came right out.   Thanks again for your suggestions, & time, John H.
