1953 Model 88 wideline frame

Forums

My 1953 Model 88 wideline frame has the bolt up rear section.

The frame is missing the  tube fitted between the top rear section of the main frame and the bolt on section.

Can anyone advise the length and outside diameter of the tube so I can check for any frame damage.

Thanks

Hi Ian

If the attached picture is the frame piece you are seeking then these are available from Andover Norton and other suppliers. Occasionally they appear on ebay as well. The second attachment shows the other frame parts now available from them.

I believe that the same item fits both Wideline and Slimline frames. The earlier version being bolted in place until the 1964/5 when it was welded in position.

Hi Phil,

Thanks for response but this is only on the slimline according to my parts book.

The part I'm needing is part no 92 on plate JZ.  It is pictured just above the toolbox. It fits on stud part 90

Spoke to Andover last night but they have no information on it.

Part 92 looks like a length of thick wall tubing used to brace up the bolt-on frame lugs. I would guess that you could calculate the length of a substitute piece. The internal dia would not be too critical compared to the length so a metric alternative would possibly suffice.
