The L122 would suggest a Model 88 of 1956 vintage. The engine / frame number range for this year would have started at around 666000. Which just about fits in with the first six digits that you have given ie ....... frame number 676596. or the last six digits....659601. Which is correct???

Can you send a photo or two of your frame numbers?

It does seem as though there are too many numbers, both horizontally and vertically.

As Phil says, L122 is a 1956 Model 88, but the 6 makes no sense.

The verticals are less clear, as at that time there were 5 digits in the frame numbers, so there are two too many. The first five; 76596; does not match, as they are a 1957 sequence. Dropping off the first and last, leaving 65960 gives a 1955 number, so that doesn't quite fit either.

Someone appears to have messed with the numbers Jimmy, or you have mis-read or mis-typed them!

As Phil said, post up pictures so we can have a look.

You never mentioned that it had a V5 Jimmy. How come you say you can't find any information on it? The V5 will give the info you require; model, year, engine capacity etc. The numbers appear to be incorrect from what you have quoted, but as you have a V5, why worry?

i understand what your saying, but its year of registration is 1966, which is on the V5, which i dont want, i would like the proper year the frame was built on the V5, and was wanting the correct year of the frame put on the V5..jimmy

That doesn't alter the fact that the numbers you have quoted do not tally with Norton numbers. As Phil and I said, the L122 indicates a 1956 mod.88, but someone has added a '6'. The frame numbers only ever went up to 6 digits, and that was from 1962-on; yours has seven. A 1956 frame would only have five.

It looks as though the numbers have been tampered with, DVLA have accepted that number, and I doubt you will ever get it changed.

As Phil suggested, post a clear photo so we can have a look; an i-phone can take a perfectly clear picture.
