Hi all
having suffered from wet sumping for years my mate who has the last velo off the production line .(unnecessary information)said try a velo non return valve. I did on my 51ES2,1949 Inter, and recently on my 1932 inter stroke Manx bitser. It works great on mine . Can't take responsibility for any body trying this .

hi Stuart
how many velos do you or any body else knows that has had an issue with oil starvation from the non return valve that is serviced periodically ?
When I do an oil chainge simply check the spring and ball . The amount of oil that ended being on my garage floor from wet sumping is unreal ,yes I do ride them but wife and kids also have to be taken into account.
Cheers Ian

Ian - you would need to speak to someone more learned than myself but I understand that the Velo pumps work at a higher pressure. There are lots of threads on the site discussing it. Peter Lovell will show the evidence! However if you are comfortable with fitting one then you should go ahead. I am considering having an easy drain fitting made over the winter.

Hi Stuart
How would your easy drain work ? If it's a good design I might be interested myself, I'd be worried about it being accidentally opened with the conciquences.
cheers Ian

it makes you wonder if you could use some sort of vacume operated valve taken off the inlet manifold. similar to a petrol tap setup. couple of kicks the vacume opens the valve hey presto oil flo.the vacume could be saved in a reservoir bottle with a metered hole so when resting up the vacume depletes and the valve closes stopping the oil flow. trouble is would the oil get to the engine quick enough before it started.
