I have a 1954 ES2 with an engine number beginning with 00. I can't find any reference to such a number in the tables. I can only imagine this is a replacement crankcase following a rebuild at sometime in the distant past. Does anyone have any experience or suggestions of the origin of such a crankcase ? Were replacement cases numbered in any particular way ?

Many thanks for your helpful posting. I will have a more detailed look to see if I can locate the extra numbers you mention. She will be ready for an engine rebuild next year and will checkout the pairing numbers then.
