When did Nortonuse the Twin Leading shoe Brakewith InternalLinkage, andhow long before it was put on the outside?

According to Roy Bacon's book it was first used in 1948 on the works machines. This first picture I can find of the external linkage on a works bike is 1955. My own production 48 Manx is fitted with a single leading shoe withthe common pivot for both shoeswhich I think remained the norm through to the early 50s until 54 when a TLS brake, according to R. Bacon, was introduced - unfortunately he doesn't say what type - perhaps someone has a 54 parts book out theresomewhere.

Hi .

It was his 'Norton Singles' book from the 'Osprey Collecteor's Library'series ISBN 0-85045-485-9. Mick Woolett's 'Norton' also from Osprey is a must too - ISBN 185532 202 1.

Does anyone have a photo of this internal TLS system? It would be nice to increase the braking on a restored machine without changing the outward appearance.
