Sturmey Archer kickstart return spring

Forums

I'm looking for the above spring for a friend of mine (a NOC member, but without a computer), the gearbox is fitted to a 1929 Model 18 and the spring is the only thing he has left to find before he can finish the bike. He has exhausted all of his usual sources so I offered to ask around. If anyone has one under the bench they are willing to part with please let me know and I'll put you in touch, alternativly, if anyone has one they would be willing to lend us we can get one made, we just need a pattern.

Thanks in advance

Andy, There were different types. Which one are you looking for. I can lend you mine to copy as a last resort.

Have you tried Martin Bratby? I have purchased a number of different springs for my 1929 Nortons from him.

Hi Ian

Sorry for the delay getting back to you. We have run out of sources, Martin Bratby has sold out and isn't sure if or when he'll get anymore.

I understand there is a long and a short one? We are after the long one and if you are still able to help I'd like to take you up on your offer of the loan so we can have one made.

My e-mail address is andy@themagnetoguys.co.uk , if you could contact me on that and we can arrange to borrow it that would be great!

Thanks again

Andy
