Strange mailings

I just received RH#325 and have noticed that it was mailed from Malmo, Sweden!!!

Is this the same for everyone or is it because I am in the US and there is some benefit to the Club doing this?

Just curious.

Here's hoping that everyone gets the new Norton under the tree on Christmas morning and dry roads in the New Year.

As I'm living in Sweden, I just noticed that it came from Malmo. As I recently joined the Club, I was really happy to get my first RH Magazine.

Merry christmas to you all.

Greetings from South Australia,

Got my RH324 last week (November edition) and was also intrigued with the post mark......Only curious mind, no complaints, arrived safely and in good order, so what else can I ask?

Seasons Greetings!

The mailing system used by our printer is optimised for economy and bulks together larger volumes of goods going to one destination. It's a similar system to those used by courier companies utilising large hubs in their networks. One result of this is that the magazines may get to you via what seems an odd routing although for the carrier it makes sense.

This way, we manage to charge no higher subscription for Overseas Members than we do for UK Members. We have discovered however that some of the mailing times Overseas have become unacceptably long and a small team from the EC is presently looking into what alternative mailing arrangements can be made to reduce the time it takes for Roadholder to arrive.

Like provide an online option. I have not yet received the December issue (on the 23rd of the month), however, this is usual, it has NEVER arrived in less than three weeks.

The problem that John has is of living in Spain. His copy of Rh is probably beingconveyed by 'snail' mail. This is bad news because thecouriers are always having to dodge any restaurants, enroute, that specialise in mollusc meals. ....and of course this delays their journey. What John needs is a nice big, fat pigeon that delivers his Rh straight to his door and then, on the return trip, leaves deposits on any neighbours he does not get on with.

........Merry Christmas John...........

Many owners clubs nowadays offer an online version of the club magazine, often giving the people who choose this option a reduced membership cost. This seems a very sensible move to me, especially as most clubs find their biggest cost is producing the magazine.

Personally I would be very happy with an online version of Roadholder each month if it reduced my membership cost. I belong to a few motorcycle clubs and it's getting to the stage where subscription costs are rising so much that I have to consider which ones are worth paying for.

What do others think?

Well, I have just received my December copy of #325Roadholder, and note that it was posted from G.B. this time, instead of Sweden.

Considering i'm down underin South OZ, I recon this is pretty good service, and,...... thanks to all for a great magazine.wink

Christmas cheer to all you Norton boys (and gals)

Ride safe.

Being from the old school I still prefer to be able to hold something and read it. I enjoy reading in the backyard or out in the shop and not having to print something out and read it. If there is a extra cost I am more than willing to pay that to have the quality newsletter that is being sent.

OK Dave, that is your preference. No one has suggested discarding the hard copy. However, in this "Hi tec" age, many would prefer not to receive last month's news. I for one, would be happy to read Roadholder on line, either indoors, on my desktop, or, in the garden, on my tablet.

I am with Minnesota Dave on this one. I prefer the paper magazine as it is - and a very good one at that which is a credit to all concerned - I like being able to pick it up and read it then put it back into the date order in my garage where I can use it as a reference point when doing my old Nortons.. Perhaps it is my age but I find I can not retain the information when I read it on a computer but I can when reading the hard copy.

Ride safe and Seasonal Greetings to all.

Cheers Mick

My last copy received down here was September 2014. An online edition would certainly help to keep info current.
