Good Afternoon All
My 1949 ES2 came with a non functioning0-80 mph clockwise sweepspeedometer. This was sent away for refurbishment. On refitting it was found to be still not working, I am told due to it's requirement for a clockwise cable rotation. The cable drive gearbox on my ES2 produces an anti-clockwise rotation. Have I the wrong speedometer or the wrong drive?

Many Thanks Iain. The work…
Many Thanks Iain.
The workshop that refurbished the speedometer has said a screw-on adaptor is available to reverse the drive but I think,as you suggest,a replacement drive at the hub is the answer.I'll contact Russell Motors.

Terence,
since no-one else has replied i will put my head above the parapet. As far as i know (but i dont claim to be an expert) the norm is for the cable to rotate the same way that the needle is driven. So it sounds like the drive to me.
My 16H had an incorrect drive on it when i bought, front brake plate type in that case, fortunately Russell Motors to the rescue.
best of luck
