Roadholder headlamp brackets

Forums

I have the cast alloy headlamp brackets on the roadholders for my 1950 ES2 and am in the process of re-assembling the bike. The problem I am having is that when the two brackets are facing forward and the headlamp mounting points parallel to each other, the bolt holes are about an inch further apart than the width of the headlamp shell. If I turn the holders round to touch the headlamp shell, the brackets are no longer parallel so the bolts wonât pull up square. Should there be a spacer on each side, between the headlamp shell and the headlamp bracket? I am assuming it is a 7inch headlamp and not 8 as on some earlier bikes?

Thanks in advance for any help

Hi Andy,

Yes there are spacers to take up this gap. My 1951 ES-2 has them fitted. If you fit the better looking 8inch headlamp you won't need the spacers.

Thanks Ian.

I had pretty much arrived at that conclusion myself but it's nice to get confirmation from someone. Are they painted black or plated/stainless?

Once again this forum comes up trumps and I can get a bit more done. I'm have it entered on a rally in France in May so I have a target date.

I still need a speedo, so if anyone has one knocking around in the garage that they would like pass on, please let me know.

Thanks again

Mine are dull chrome plate like many of the fasteners but can't advise whether this is original or not. Just finish them as you want.
