Reynolds steering damper for Featherbed Inter

I'm fitting a Reynolds steering damper and have all the parts, or so I thought.

its on a featherbed inter and so the top yoke has the rubber mounted handlebars and so I think there should be a spacer below the Reynolds wing nut but the spare parts shows a spring. A spring would make sense as it would keep the damper from vibrating loose?

Does anyone have a bike with one on to advise, spring or spacer which would be in view?

Thanks

Mark

On the early featherbeds, there is a spring, on the bolt for tightening the fuel tank strap. I don't know if these are easily obtainable, but, they are just right for the steering damper.

One of my bikes has the damper shown in attached picture. It has no washer or spacer under the wing nut. A previous owner had fitted a rubber band around the wing nut, probably to keep it from turning.
