Replacing shock absorber bushes

Does anyone have any tips on how to press in replacement bushes into rear shock absobers please.

Hi Dave, I find smearing the outside diameter with rubber grease (not ordinary grease which will rot the rubber) and then pressing them in using a vice usually does the trick. You can press them out using the same idea but with a suitable sized soccket either side.

Thanks Alan - I decided the OD was too great and I fixed the bush in an arbour in the drill and sanded down some of the excess and pressed them home - job done - many thanks - off for a run now â?.

If it is on a Commando, ensure that you fit the large penny washer on the lower damper bolt to act as a safety stop. I've seen Commandos where this has been omitted and the bottom mount can pop off the bolt, particularly if there is some lube floating around.
