Rear hub assembly

I am rebuilding a 1951 ES2, I purchased in bits (never again), I am having trouble with assembling the rear hub, it either locks up or is very stiff when placed in the lugs and tightened up. Has anyone got a detailed drawing of the hub assembly with or without dimensions of the spacers washers etc. Or can any one let me know where I could obtain a good manual. Thanks.

I had exactly the same problem with my 52 ES2 even though every thing looked right as per the exploded view in the 1950 parts book. The brake plate was hard into the brake drum, the only new part in the assembly. I played around with various thickness's of washer between the wheel bearing and brake plate distance piece until I obtained the required fit then made up a spacer on my lathe. I can only conclude there is some variation between the original brake drum and the new pattern item. I also had problems with the speedo drive side as not all drive units are the same width, be careful. The other thing to bear in mind if not correct, considerable wear will occur in the aluminium sliders due to the side load. I had that wheel in and out more times than I care to remember! john

Thanks John, I to fitted a new brake drum, I also fitted new sealed bearings so I think it is a bag of washers and back in the garage.
