Hi All,
I was poking arount by ES2 basketcase & realized the frame seems to be from a twin. I assume the twins frames had cast frame cradles & the singles & Nomads all had tubular cradles? From a function standpoint would it matter if I used the twinn frame with the single ES2 engine?
the frame that came with the ES2:
The frame on my Nomad:
The existing frame has been bashed in on the top tube to rake out the steering angle (chopper stuff), I will take it to my frame man & have it corrected, but am unsure if I should sell it off as a model 7 frame & search for a singles frame, or put the bike together as is & find a more correct frame later. Norton singles frames dont come up for sale often here in the states
Thoughts, comments, suggestions?

Thanks Andy.
In the back of my mind & thought the cradle was the difference. I know this basket case is a bit mixed up, so I assume nothing is right
Here are my numbers:
My engine is: 43251 with a number 4 directly below & of course the 79x100 stamped to the right
Plunger Frame: 42211 ( first number 4 confirms as an ES2?)
Laid down gearbox: G101 8908 (G101 singles, G102 Twins ???)
I am showing 1952 starting with eng. number 42700 & 1953 starting with 48900, so I assume a 1953 engine?
Frame number starts with 4 means ES2, then 2211.
1946 starts with 2131, 1947 with 7756, so 1946 Frame ??

Both my plunger ES2 and rigid Inter have the cast cradle as you've got. It looks like a single to me.
What's the frame number? If it's post war that would tell you for sure. There's a letter and number prefix. The letter is the year, A for 1946, B for 1947 and so one. The number tells you the model. ES2 would be 4. So a 1946 ES2 would start A4. I think 3 is model 18. Not sure about any others but I have seen them listed on the net.
If it's prewar there's no prefix, so you'd have to check the records.

Andy
