Petrol taps

Forums

On my 1937 16H the RHS fuel tap is 'HexagOn' type but LHS has a flat lever type, which is not properly sealing closed. If I renew it, I might as well copy the original. Were they both HexagOn taps when new or was reserve side different?

Thanks

Thanks, Peter  - as I suspected.  It's odd how things get changed, isn't it?  I see flat lever taps are a lot cheaper, so I assume that's the reason for using them.  I took mine apart but unless I punch out the pin holding in the lever, I can't rotate it all the way round to lap it in.  Rather than spend more time on it I think I'll just get a new tap.

I see people complain that cork is not ethanol-proof.  In that case, somebody had better tell the drinks industry, who have been making that mistake for several thousand years!

Regards

David
