Painted rim centres

Hi everybody, I am about to start restoring my 1957 ES2, what I am not sure of is whether the rims should be all chrome or have painted centres, my two favourite reference books seem to contradict one another Bacon appears to say 55-56 for all chromewhere as Steve Wilson points to 1958 as going to full chrome. Your help is appreciated.

Hi Alan - my "Norton Singles" by Roy Bacon confirms what I thought. It states that red lining was introduced on the rims on ES2's in 1953 and that 54, 55, 56 were the same,. It does not note any change for 57 (it notes "as 56"). Hope this helps.George
