Norton transfers?

Forums

Am having a dent removed from my Norton petrol tank, could anyone suggest where I can get replacement transfers from to replace the ones which are likely to be damaged? I'm looking for the large Norton transfer and stripe on the side of the tank, and also the small Norton transfer and stripe on the top of the tank. Pic attached.

try;

Unity Equipe although they don't have exactly what you after in their catalogue - they might 'know a man that does'.

Also;

Classic Transfers who don't list tank transfers but might know someone who does.

You could also try;

Beugler - I've seen these in use at exhibitions and they look to be really good - however, i'm sure that is not as easy as it looks! The advantage is that you can exactly what you like with it and it is paint not a transfer.

let us know if you have any luck - I am going to be after similar!

Classic transfers have all the tank transfers you are likely to need but the site isnt all that easy to navigate. Persevere...

... and Beuglar roller pens are as good as they look - but costly. You'll also need their magnetic guide strip to get not just a fine line but a line where you want it to be. Boiling water will help to curve the mag strip in plan.I used masking tape to mark the inside curve of the black line and a good quality spade shaped synthetic brush (with Humbrol black enamel) to do the rest free hand. It's not possible to lay tape round a smooth outside curve. Maybe masking film could be used? The Youtube film of the Indian Enfield tank painter shows him doing a tank in under a minute freehand...Red lining paint used to have high lead content - gorgeous stuff that covered in one coat and stuck well. I don't know what's best nowadays. Does anyone else out there?

Sir,

Thay are not transfers despite what they look like they are painted but look like transfers after lacquer etc.

See old bike mart and KAS Racepaint, they will repair the tank and re paint to original Norton spec. They are superb at what they do.
