Hope you dont mind one of my stupid Questions But im confused againe.I bought a gearbox cover Discribed as commando but the cable inlet is on the sholder at 10 o,clock rather than top 12 o,clock,can someone with some sence please tell me what gearbox this is for.meny thanks.

I have come across this before and found the outer cover was sold as Norton but actually AJS / Matchless.
Easy to spot when buying with the main shell as these are prefixed with either M or N (N= Norton obviously) But until you mate up the cover with the shell it is not obvious what you have. The lugs on the Norton shell are in a different position hence the different positioning.
I did a swap with an AMC owner who had the same issue.
