Netley - Friday?

Who's going? And does anyone want to meet for a coffee and natter and to boast about about what bargains you bagged/missed!

Ken Rawlinson and myself have cleared out our garages of all our unwanted Norton stuff and are running a stand E26. Pop over for a cup of tea, a bargainand a natter.

I am hoping to call in on my way from Cornwall to Brighton on the Ducati, time permitting. I will head for stand E26 if I do!

I'll be there tomorrow. Never been before so don't know if there's an obvious meeting point? But happy to meet for a coffee/natter.

Can't come on the Ducati now. Part of the trip involves visiting an elderly reli in Sussex, and she has just told me she wants me to take her to Goodwood on Sunday. A bit tricky on the Duc; she is 91....

That means taking the Mondeo Estate, which can hold loads of parts; oh dear.....

Should arrive at stand E26 by mid-day.

She is George! She is my step-mother. Trouble is she wants to join my Dad who is with the Great Majority, and gets annoyed when the staff in the care home keep feeding her! 'I'll never die at this rate' she says....

I'll take her for a glass of Pinot Grigio at Goodwood Kennels Sunday lunchtime. That'll cheer her up....

Good to meet Paul, Ken and Richard yesterday, and many thanks for the most welcome cuppa! don't know what happened to everyone else mind!

Some good Norton stuff to be had, I didn't find everything that I hoped to find but came back with a car full of stuff never the less, as someone remarked on stall ........ You know it's a desease ... right?! I think he was right!

I'm now off to try and find somewhere to store this stuff!

The journey from Cornwall was so bad that when I was near Netley Marsh, by which time it was 1pm, I decided not to stop, as I anyway had to continue to Brighton.

Just as well I didn't......

Saturday was almost a repeat of last year. The footfall was low and heavy rain arrived just after 12pm.

In the past Saturday was the big public 'bargain buy' day but not any more. The clash with Beaulieu, plus the extortionate stand and entrance charges are starting to make this into a Saturday event no longer worth visiting.

Shepton Mallet and Popham are far more attractive to both private sellers and punters in terms of cost.

Not too long ago Norton Day used to have a collection of bikes to view plus a good number of autojumble stalls selling spares at bargain prices. Sellers were able to offer their bits and pieces at giveaway amounts because they were not having to factor in mega stand and travelling costs.

Can the Events Team not arrange a Norton Spares only 'bring and buy' day when members can clear out their sheds and garages and offer bits and pieces at sensible prices?
