This is regarding my 1955 Manx. Can anyone help me understand motor stampings that are located just above the engine to frame mounting plate on the left side of the motor and several inches in front of the K11M2 and serial number stampings? They are the letters "PM" and below that is the number "9.9".
Thank you very much for any information provided.

A nice history lesson there Barry.
Make you want to press a "Like" button in this modern era,or just a means to flag a posting that has some special content for the enthusiasts.
Whats the chances "webmaster" ?
This forum is not only for answering questions or queries, but imparting that long held knowledge to the new, younger, uninitiated of us. There is a lot of knowledge out there in the hands of the generation who lived with these machines; be nice to recognise it and preserve it somehow.
We do it with the "Compendiums" for the old style communication, don't want to loose that knowledge because we have moved "forward" with communications.
Its a bit like photographs; there are dozens from the 50's through the 80's. Now we have the means to capture anything and everything, how much of it is seen or shared outside of the digital world it is created in?

Thank you Barry! That is…
Thank you Barry! That is very helpful information. I have the frame and engine "60xxx" numbers. They don't match but race bikes often have engine changes so I am not uncomfortable about that.
Again, Thanks very much

PM99 is the engine shop number, which is stamped after the engine has been built. It will also have another number (60xxx), which is the finished number for the assembled bike and this number will also appear on the frame, if it still has it's original frame. For K11M2, this means 'K' is for the manufactured year 1955, '11M' means 500 Manx and '2' means type two frame. The earlier frame or Gardengate is the type '1' frame, although it is not normally referred as this. The '2' was soon dropped, as the earlier frame was no longer made for these models.
When the first Featherbed Dominator was introduced it was designated as 12/2, meaning Model 12 with type 2 frame, but the '/' was quickly dropped and just became 122 for the 500 Dominator, Model 88
