Model 7 battery carrier

Forums

Hi, I have a '53 swing arm Model 7, had an oil tank mounting problem, now solved, but it is missing a battery carrier. If anyone out there has one for sale that would be great, but failing that would it be possible for someone send me a picture and dimensions? Many thanks. Tony Cording, Vancouver B.C.

Tony,

This is the same battery carrier that fits the single downtube ES2 from the mid 1950's. I have a rough one, which I'll try and attach photos, which fits my ES2 and Model 7 frame.

Also, if you look on the NOC spares section under the Singles / Cycle Parts, on page 12 there is one for sale from the club. This looks to be the same as the one I have, even though it is described as suitable for rigid and plunger frames.

Hope this helps. If you want measurements and sketches I can help.

Philip

Many thanks Philip, I will check out the site, and see if I can find the battery carrier. If it is gone I will get back to you for further info. Tony

Hi Philip, I checked out page 12 on the singles parts listing and couldn't find anything. However, on page 5 there is a listing for a battery carrier F2/586. Is this the one you mention? Also checking the parts book I have for a '55 Model 7 there are parts listed for the lower fixing point. On my '53 frame there is only 1 upper fixing point at the frame junction of top tube and rear down tube. My e mail address is cording@shaw.ca if you have any pics you could send. Many thanks. Tony

Tony,

In case you or anyone else needs to make a battery carrier for a single downtube swinging arm ES2 or Model 7 I have measured and drawn up the details and will try and attach them. When I try "Add another attachment" it jumps back to the general thread and won't let me attach a second image?

Regards, Phil.

That looks very similar to the one fitted to my 1952 plunger ES2. I had originally thought it was something of a lash-up with the diagonal back plate, but I'm coming to the view that it may be original.

Many thanks for posting the images.
