Model 50 exhaust pipe

Forums
Hi as a new member, I wonder if any one could help. I have a model 50,(slimline-1960),and would like to find out if anyone makes an exaust with a slight upturn under the kickstart area to enable me to fit a 'Goldie' type silencer. I saw an artical in Classic Bike Guide (Jan 2009) with a very tidy mod 50 by Barry Taylor. This is the effect I hope to get. Many thanks anticipation Regards John Oldridge

I recently bought a pipe from Feked and am very pleased.

They make Model 50 pipes for both the Wideline and the Slimline.

You will have to ask them about the upkick though.

Many Thanks Mike, I didn't know of this company, it looks a good site for other parts as well.

In the past I have bought three pipes from Armours and they all failed. it seems to me that the gage of the pipe metal is too thin and that the metal where the flange is rolled gets stressed. So far, so good with the Feked pipe.

I wish you hadn't told me that. I just ordered some pipes from them. I did go with Feked first and ordered a pipe and silencer for my 1938 ES2. The pipe they sent is supposed to fit 'Models 18,50.ES2 from 1936 on' Well it doesn't fit a 1938 ES2. Although pipe seems good quality the bend upwards towards rear of the pipe is about 2 - 3" to far forward so pipe was fouling on the kickstart shaft moulding in gearbox cover. I contacted Feked and basically got a shrug of the shoulders and offered a refund, which is something, but I needed a pipe. I sent photos and did offer to send any measurements they required to sort the problem however they didn't show any interest. I just checked their website and they are still advertising it as fitting all those models.

On contacting Armours they advised they do a special pipe just for the 1938 model which has a slightly different shape, no problem. However it is not in their catolouge which is outdated, I don't know why I company like that would not update their catolouge but there you go. So, I ordered some other pipes from them as well for a couple of other projects I have to make the postage to Australia worth while. I was under the impression they made high quality pipes but I guess I'll find out. I will be home in a few days and pipes should be there waiting. I will report back here in the future if I have any problems as you have had or quality doesn't meet my expectations.

So, Got home today and exhausts have arrived. I compared thr two ES2 pipes, one from Feked and the one from Armours. I measured the pipe wall thickness and on average the Armours exhaust is about 0.1mm thinner which makes the flange slightly thinner as well. Both look to have the same chroming quality just eyeing them. Unfortunately for me the one from Armours doesn't fit either. Armours didn't send me a special pipe for my 38 ES2, they sent one for a model 19, and on calling they told me it should fit. I will start a new thread for this problem.
