Mk.3 Wiring harness connector blocks

Forums

Hello everyone

Can anyone tell me where i might be able to buy connector blocks the same as fitted to the Mk 3 ? Last year I made a new harness using 6.3mm spade connector blocks (much bigger in size) in the headlamp shell and although it works fine it is a tight squeeze to get it all in the shell. If i could get connector blocks as original (or smaller but able to carry the same current) it would give me more space in the headlamp shell to shoehorn in one of the new LED headlight bulbs.

Vehicle Wiring Products also, but their p&p charges are a bit steep. Modern wiring can be pretty thin apart from the major current carrying wires. Using relays on the headlight and horn will ensure full voltage gets to the bulbs. You can easily loose 1 volt by sending power to the headlight via ignition switch, light switch, dip switch. 11 volts is a dim headlight.

Hi, Does anyone know if the wiring harness sold by Andover Norton is just like the original ? i.e.. it has the slim connectors.

Maybe I could ask AN but I have only just thought of it. Any comments Joe ?

The connector system itself is very good with keying so they cannot be connected wrongly. The only problem is the crimp pin plating is not really up to long term use in British weather. If they did gold plated crimp pins they would last for ever. I had used similar but larger connectors on the fairing for more that 30 years and they still look as good as new.

Tony, I can confirm that the AN headlamp wiring harness is a direct replacement for the original (i.e. with the slim white connectors) and clips into the main harness without any problems (unless your dpo has made changes as mine had),.

You can buy trhe original connectors from Tri-Cor.

I purchased 2,4, & 6 pin male& female from themin April last year & once I fit them I can then fit my newAN headlamp harness ;)

Hi Mike, Thanks for the information. I now find that an earlier thread also had this information, I must have missed it.
